In Jollas, Helsinki, Matosaari is a forgotten secret: ruins from the Crimean War, the stone foundation of a long-ago burned-down house's magnificent garden, great views of the eastern archipelago, Villinki, and downtown Helsinki, as well as peace and sea breeze. The island is also home to the Helsinki Lifeboat Association's base, so you can spot the association's rescue boats at the dock. Matosaari is now connected by a pedestrian path. A trip to Matosaari is possible with strollers, but it's recommended to leave them at the beginning of the island and wait, making the adventure in the small island much easier.
