Matosaari
Matosaari, located in Helsinki, is a hidden gem: It features the remains of buildings from the Crimean War, the stone foundation of a long-abandoned house with a beautiful garden, stunning views of the eastern archipelago, Villinki, and Helsinki's city center, as well as peace and sea air. The island is also home to the Helsinki Sea Rescue Society's base, so you can spot their rescue boats at the dock. There is now a walking connection to Matosaari. A trip to Matosaari can be done by bike, but it's recommended to leave the bikes at the beginning of the island, waiting for you, so that the adventure in the small island is much easier.
